TRINIDAD ISLANDS
8.5 X 23 X 8 INCHES, WOOD, METAL
8.5 X 23 X 8 INCHES, WOOD, METAL
Many of my sculptures attempt to mimic historic or antiquated devices and displays. On a plaque, an inscription explains that the three boxes contained in the covered box were found on Trinidad Island in 1958. UFO aficionados may recognize the location and date as when a member of the Brazilian army supposedly took photographs of a flying saucer hovering over the island. I wanted this piece to appear as a museum display showing three boxes that may have been left behind by the UFO. But museums rarely display their entire inventory and I wanted this piece to appear as an artifact which had been forgotten in storage. Over time something has caused the third box to open and reveal a biomorphic form.
