GROUND ROUND
47 X 22 X 10 INCHES, WOOD AND METAL
Picture

Margie Owens was my wife's grandmother and she had a great cackle of a laugh. She was also a fantastic cook. Sometimes we would go to her house after church on Sunday to eat dinner. I especially enjoyed her macaroni and cheese. After she passed away her possessions were sold, given away, passed down or packed up. My wife ended up with her old meat grinder. It stayed in an old shoebox for many years. I built a small table to attach it to since it had a vise. An old broken branch with insect infestation signifies how time eats away and leaves signs of aging. Wooden dowels were steamed, bent and attached to indicate how old limbs bear seeds of new life, and the circle of life continues. I like the way objects can connect us to the past and conjure up memories of time gone by. I can almost taste that mac n cheese and hear Margie cackling.
