Eight-fifteen (8:15) refers to the time of day when the world's first atomic bomb was deployed. On August 6, 1945, during World War II, an American B-29 bomber dropped "Little Boy" on the Japanese city of Hiroshima. The resulting explosion immediately killed an estimated 80,000 people. Radiation exposure would later cause the deaths of an addition ten of thousands. Many of the victims' watches stopped at that moment so they not only represent the ceasing of time but the actual lives lost also. Further inferences, such as industrial America (large cog wheel), the wiring of the bomb, and the war machine are also present.
